Indirectly killing a villager doesn’t affect your reputation. You can drown them, suffocate them, burn them in lava, push them off a cliff, and even feed them to zombies and as long as you’re not dealing direct damage it won’t matter. Just don’t punch them, chop them, or shoot them.
