Every day, day in, day out, they are flying or studying. Pilots have a plethora of monthly ( bi-monthly, semi-annual, etc) requirements that they have to keep up with. For example, a pilot that I launched out the other day had only made 5 landings this week, but to meet his quota, he needs 10 more.
