Shakespeare’s plays were meant to be seen and heard in performance rather than read, although obviously you can read them. If you sat through a full unedited performance of “Hamlet” (which is rarely performed, although Kenneth Branagh did do a film version) it would take 4+ hours, which probably includes intermissions.
