Do You Need Xbox Live To Play Fortnite?

No, you do not need an Xbox Live subscription to play Fornite, meaning all you need is an Xbox Live account, though the subscription is not required.

Things weren't always this way though, previously you would need a valid subscription to play online titles. Microsoft announced this year that free-to-play games will actually be free-to-play now, regardless of whether they are online or not. So no, you won't need to pay for an Xbox Live subscription to play Fortnite but you need an account.

Most players will have already set up an account when first getting their console though so just sign in, head to the store and download Fortnite. Bear in mind you'll still need an internet connection to be able to install the title and also play it.
